Comments

Salt'n'Pepa, Queen Pen, Jody Watley, and Davina are among the hip-hop talent who have joined a U.S. tour to promote AIDS awareness. The 1998 Recreating Our Future tour will visit 11 cities, and is aimed at educating communities of color about the effects of HIV and AIDS. The event will kick off during the 8th annual Black Gay Pride Celebration May 20-24 in Washington, D.C.; among the activities scheduled are a press conference May 21 and benefit concert May 22. Call 718-222-1520 for additional information.

In other good works, Martina McBride, Patty Loveless, Matraca Berg, and Gretchen Peters will unite for two concerts to raise money for children's and women's programs. Hosted by McBride, the pair of shows will take place April 29 at the Caffe Milano in Nashville; tickets are priced at $35 and $50. Proceeds will benefit the Nashville Child Advocacy Center, the Madison Domestic Violence Program, and the YWCA Shelter for Domestic Violence.
