Hip-Hop Acts Lead 'Race To The Polls'

Ludacris, Public Enemy and Mase are among the acts that will perform at Race to the Polls, an Oct. 14 voter awareness concert at New York's Hammerstein Ballroom. Staged by the Hip-Hop Summit Action Network and Sony's PlayStation 2, the event will also feature a celebrity video gaming tournament.

"We've registered hundreds of thousands of young people over the past year, but we aren't stopping there," says Hip-Hop Summit Action Network co-founder Russell Simmons. "The most American thing you can do is vote. This special event is about reminding young people to make an effort to educate themselves on who they want their next leader to be and go to the polls this November."

Funkmaster Flex and Doug E. Fresh will host the event, with help from DJs Biz Markie and Green Lantern. The PlayStation 2 title "Gran Turismo 4," due for release in December, will serve as the platform for a competition involving Lil' Kim, Run-DMC's Rev. Run, Loon, Foxy Brown and actors Anne Hathaway ("The Princess Diaries," "Ella Enchanted") and Adrian Grenier (HBO's "Entourage").

Race to the Polls tickets are priced at $20.04 and $15 and are available via the Web sites of the Hip-Hop Summit Action Network and New York radio station WQHT (Hot 97), as well as Ticketmaster.
