High-Profile Summer Tours In The Works

As the concert business gears up for the summer of 2000, a number of high-profile tours are in the works, including unconfirmed outings by Christina Aquilera, Yes and Jethro Tull, Motley Crue/Megadeth, Ted Nugent/Kiss, and Steve Miller Band/J. Geils Band. There's also word of a Diana Ross & the Supremes reunion tour.

Giant concert promotion company SFX is expected to promote all or part of the tours, as well as confirmed tours by Tina Turner, 'N Sync, Steely Dan, Backstreet Boys, the George Strait Country Music Festival, Dixie Chicks, Ozzfest, Britney Spears, Charlie Daniels' Volunteer Jam, and Styx/REO Speedwagon.

In other concert news, Stone Temple Pilots are booked to perform at this year's South By Southwest Festival, to be held March 15-19 in Austin, Texas. It will be the band's first show since last July, after which lead singer Scott Weiland was sentenced to a year in jail for drug-related offenses. He has since been released.
