Guster could have panicked when it ended up one director short in a recent endeavor to create music videos for all 12 tracks on its upcoming album, "Easy Wonderful," due Oct. 5. Instead, the rockers are turing to their dedicated fanbase to create a video for the song "Bad Bad World."

Guster fans have until Oct. 12 to send in their best cinematic interpretation of the tune. The winner will be selected by the band before Oct. 19.

In addtion to being announced and premiered exclusively on Billboard.com, the winning video will be featured on the band's website. Its creator will win a prize pack of  "Easy Wonderful" and Guster goodies.

To enter, fans can download "Bad Bad World" for free and upload their video submissions (in the .mov format) using Sendspace (addressed to badbadworld@nettwerk.com).

"Our fans have proven themselves when it comes to posting videos," drummer Brian Rosenworcel, the mastermind behind the contest, tells Billboard.com. "We did another video contest that was popular among our fans, and I couldn't believe the skill and the hard work that went into them."

But Guster also says that technical skill will not necessarily determine the contest's winner. "I don't want to discourage anyone that might not be so competent on Final Cut," says Rosenworcel. "We're going to be very open-minded judges. We're just having fun with it, since now it's our turn to act like a certain British judge on 'American Idol.'"

If the rest of the videos for the songs off "Easy Wonderful" are any indication, the "Bad Bad World" video may be narrative, goofy or touching -- even all three. Currently, Guster is streaming two of the eleven videos (including the one featured above), all of which were created by different directors, on its website. According to Rosenworcel, the band will premiere the rest of the videos over the next several weeks.

"I think video is the future of how people will listen to songs," says Rosenworcel of online clips. "Rather than just have an image of our album cover with our song playing behind it, as you too often see on YouTube, I thought, 'Why don't we have our friends make really cool pieces of art and use them as the videos for all the songs on this album?'"
