Slash, matchbox twenty's Kyle Cook, Living Colour's Vernon Reid, Stone Temple Pilots' Dean DeLeo and Marc Ford are among the guitarists appearing on "Sing a Song With Six Strings," a collection of tracks inspired by children. Due Oct. 5 via Sony Wonder, the 13-track set also includes contributions from Peter Frampton, Stevie Ray Vaughan and Double Trouble, the late Carl Perkins and Jorma Kaukonen.

"They've either written songs or picked a song that they liked to sing to their kids," album executive producer Eddie Kramer tells Billboard.com. "We've done rocked out versions of them. It sounds fantastic. It is really a smokin' little album."

Among the cuts penned specifically for the album are Slash's "Sing a Song of Sixpence," of which he says, "When it was finished, I played it for my then 1 year old son London and I got smiles of approval. I figured it must have hit the mark!"

Cook's "Always This Near" is his first solo recording. The guitarist is working with Kramer on his impending solo debut, under the moniker the New Left. Rounding out the album are tracks by Santana, Craig Ross, Keb' Mo' and Chet Atkins with Tommy Emmanuel.
