Gucci Mane

Rapper Gucci Mane will be released next Wednesday (May 12) after serving six months of his one-year sentence at the Fulton County jail in Atlanta, a source has confirmed.

Gucci, born Radric Davis, was incarcerated last November, sentenced to 12 months in jail after violating terms of his probation for a 2005 assault conviction. In December, he released an album titled "The State vs. Radric Davis" on Asylum/Warner Brothers. That set has sold 353,000 copies in the United States, according to Nielsen SoundScan.

In related news, Gucci Mane has recently parted ways with his former management company Mizay Entertainment and booking agency Hitt Afta Hitt Enterprises, confirms the source. Both companies and their owners -- Gucci's former manager Debra Antney and Johnnie Cabbell, respectively -- are named in several lawsuits claiming they booked Gucci Mane for performances without disclosing the rapper was going to jail. Consequently, Gucci missed a string of dates, resulting in a couple of lawsuits against Mizay and Hitt Afta Hitt, both which allegedly failed to return hundreds and thousands of dollars in advanced payments.

In attempt to regain control of his career, Gucci has also shut down his So Icey Entertainment imprint and is now heading 1017 Brick Squad Records Inc.

Upon release, Gucci is booked to perform at this summer's Hot 97 Summer Jam concert, which takes place in New Jersey on June 6th. Other artists also scheduled to perform at the annual event include Usher, Ludacris, Drake, Nicki Minaj and Fabolous.
