Godrich Producing New Beta Band Album

Comments

The Beta Band's upcoming Astralwerks album is near completion, with noted producer Nigel Godrich (Radiohead, Beck) behind the boards. According to a post on the group's official Web site, mixing on the as-yet-untitled set will be done in two weeks, with the album expected in February.

"Looks like 12 tracks will go on the record out of the 17 we recorded," writes vocalist Steve Mason. "It has taken a long f***in' time I know, we feel it too! But we ain't been lazy! It's a quality piece, no problem, this time it's all or nothin."

The Beta Band has two DVDs on the horizon, including a documentary on the making of the new album. In addition, Mason writes, "All four of us are also working on a DVD to come out around the time of the LP. 12 films, three each, to go with 12 tracks. Some of these tracks may not be from the LP but will be new."

The upcoming album will be the follow-up to 2001's "Hot Shots II," which debuted at No. 11 on Billboard's Top Independent Albums tally and No. 14 on Billboard's Heatseekers chart.
