Hevia's success is vaguely reminiscent of that of countryman Carlos Núñez, who in 1995 created an international stir with his traditional bagpipe and flute playing. Yet Núñez, who came to the fore with support from Chieftains front man Paddy Moloney, combines traditional Celtic formats from wet and windy Galicia with contemporary rhythms, while Hevia -- who has been dubbed "the Jimi Hendrix of the bagpipe" -- plays an electronic MIDI-controlled bagpipe that does not require any extra lung activity.
EMI affiliates will release "Tierra De Nadie" in Europe in April and in Latin America in June. Virgin/High Octave will issue the set in the States in June.
