GBV Gets Busy On New Album

The ever-prolific Guided By Voices recently logged time at Waterloo Studios in Kent, Ohio, to lay down 15 tracks for its next studio album. The as-yet-untitled set is due sometime this summer via Matador, according to the band's official Web site. Longtime collaborator Todd Tobias, the brother of ex-GBV bassist Tim Tobias, will produce.

The upcoming set will be the follow-up to last year's "Earthquake Glue," which debuted at No. 8 on Billboard's Top Independent Albums chart and No. 12 on the Heatseekers tally. GBV was recently forced to postpone several tour dates after frontman Robert Pollard suffered a back injury, but the shows have been rescheduled, beginning March 5 in Dallas.

Meanwhile, Pollard has also been at Waterloo Studios recording his next solo album, "Fiction Man." Due in March via the artist's Fading Captain imprint, the set features songs by Pollard and all instruments played by Todd Tobias.

Here are Guided By Voices' tour dates:

March 5: Dallas (Trees)
March 6: Austin, Texas (La Zona Rosa)
March 8: Columbia, Mo. (Blue Note)
March 9: St. Louis (Mississippi Nights)
March 11: Columbus, Ohio (Little Brother's)
March 12: Louisville (Headliners)
March 13: Bloomington, Ind. (Bluebird)
