Garth Brooks Sues Oklahoma Hospital Over Donation

by Associated Press  |   December 17, 2009 7:49 EST

Garth Brooks has accused an Oklahoma hospital of reneging on a promise to name a building addition after his late mother in exchange for a $500,000 contribution.

According to a lawsuit filed in Rogers County District Court, the singer seeks a return of his December 2005 donation to Integris Canadian Valley Regional Hospital in Yukon after nearly two years of meetings with hospital officials.

Brooks alleges officials presented mock-ups of buildings bearing Colleen Brooks' name.

The lawsuit says the hospital informed Brooks last year the donation would be used the way in which it was "earmarked."

Terry Thomas, an attorney with the firm representing the hospital, declined to comment. A hospital representative didn't return a call seeking comment.
