Having spent the bulk of his time of late recording and touring with jazz drummer Steve Reid and making a new album with his band Fridge, Four Tet's Kieran Hebden is ready to return to his own music.

"Last year I did something like 16 remixes," he tells Billboard.com. "I probably could have made another album in all that time. I've decided to try and slow down on the remixes and get to work on some new electronic music. I don't know if it will be a Four Tet record or what, but I'm trying to create some space to work on some new music."

Hebden says his latest batch of ideas have been inspired by touring with Reid. "The crowd responses are unlike anything else I've ever done," he says. "It's hard not to come back and be totally excited by that sort of thing -- engaging people in such a direct way, purely with drums half the time."

"I'm feeling an urge to be making that sort of thing," he continues. "I'm getting quite a kick at the moment out of making very rhythmic music that makes people freak out. Plus, I've been DJing a lot in London, which definitely has given me the urge to work on some more dance-type music as well."

Hebden and Reid will be back on the road this summer playing jazz festivals in North American and Europe. Also, look for Four Tet remixes of Thom Yorke's "Atoms for Peace" and Matthew Dear's "Deserter,? plus the Four Tet/Sunburned Hand Of The Man collaboration ?Fire Escape? in the weeks and months ahead.
