Florence and the Machine's debut album "Lungs" (Universal Island) finally claimed the No. 1 spot it was denied in an opening five-week run at No. 2 last summer, as the new U.K. sales charts were announced.

There was a second week atop the singles survey for Virgin Islands-born singer-rapper Iyaz with "Replay" (Reprise/Warner Music).

"Lungs" spent its first five weeks on the U.K. chart at No. 2 last July and August, denied top spot by "The Essential Michael Jackson" (Epic/Sony Music Entertainment). It finally reaches the summit in its 28th chart week last night (Jan. 17), as total U.K. sales rise to 611,000, according to the Official Charts Company.

Paolo Nutini's "Sunny Side Up" (Atlantic/Warner Music) thus fell to No.2 after two weeks at the top, while Vampire Weekend's sophomore album "Contra" (XL Recordings) made a strong debut at No. 3 on sales of 42,000 units.

The new album top ten was also good news for English rock band You Me At Six, whose "Hold Me Down" (Virgin/EMI) started at No. 5, easily outdoing the No. 25 peak of their debut set "Take Off Your Colours" on the independent Slam Dunk label in October 2008.

Sixty-year-old Dutch classical composer-conductor-violinist Andre Rieu made a U.K. chart breakthrough with the album "Forever Vienna" (Decca/Universal). The waltz-themed set climbed 22-20 last week but yesterday leapt to No. 6 with the benefit of TV advertising. Alicia Keys continued her progress with "The Element of Freedom" (J/Sony Music Entertainment), which climbed to a new peak 11-7 as the single "Empire State of Mind Part II" improved 35-23. Hotly-tipped Manchester dance-rock band Delphic opened their account with the album "Acolyte" (Polydor/Universal) at No. 8.

The Iyaz single, which has now sold 193,000 copies, stayed at No. 1 ahead of a dizzy 50-2 climb for Owl City's former Billboard Hot 100 "Fireflies" (Universal Island). Last week's new entry at No. 2, "Riverside (Let's Go)" (Data) by Dutch DJ Sidney Samson featuring Wizard Sleeve, fell to No. 3.
