Rapper and reality TV star Flavor Flav was arrested in Las Vegas on Friday night (Apr. 29) for charges stemming from four separate automobile violations, the Las Vegas Metro Police Department has confirmed to Billboard.com.
Flav (real name: William Drayton Jr.) was pulled over for a routine traffic violation, upon which police discovered that the Public Enemy MC had outstanding warrants for driving without a license, driving without insurance and a parking violation. TMZ was the first to report on the arrest.
The rapper brushed off his arrest Monday (May 2) on Twitter, writing: "Hey y'all this is FLAVOR FLAV, I was on my [way] home from Benihana's I got pulled over by a curious Rookie Ass Cop. He found out I had a traffic warrant wanted to make a name for himself took me in and now I'm home laying my bed what's the big deal?!"
The arrest follows last Sunday's closing of Flav's Fried Chicken, a restaurant founded by Flav in Clinton, Iowa that had opened just four months earlier. The rapper pulled a license that allowed manager Nick Cimino to use his name, alleging that Cimino "isn't running the business right."
