Announced today in Beverly Hills, Calif., the nominees for best song are Madonna and William Ørbit's "Beautiful Stranger, from "Austin Powers: The Spy Who Shagged Me"; Collins' "You'll Be In My Heart," from "Tarzan"; Randy Newman's "When She Loved Me," from "Toy Story 2"; Aimee Mann's "Save Me," from "Magnolia"; and Edmonds, George Fenton, and Robert Kraft's "How Can I Not Love You," from "Anna And The King."
Original score nominees are Williams, for "Angela's Ashes"; Morricone, for "The Legend Of 1900"; Nyman, for "The End Of The Affair"; Lisa Gerrard and Pieter Bourke, for "The Insider"; Angelo Badalamenti, for "The Straight Story"; Fenton, for "Anna And The King"; Thomas Newman, for "American Beauty"; Jocelyn Pook, for "Eyes Wide Shut"; and Gabriel Yared, for "The Talented Mr. Ripley."
The film-industry honors will be awarded Jan. 23. The ceremony will be televised on NBC.
