Eminem achieved his sixth U.K. No. 1 album with "Recovery" (Interscope/Universal) and Katy Perry surged straight to the top of the singles chart with "California Gurls" (Virgin/EMI) in new sales data unveiled by the Official Chart Company.

"Recovery" is the rapper's latest British chart-topper in a career which has yielded U.K. album sales of 7.5 million, according to the OCC. "Recovery" achieved first week sales of almost 140,000 - the biggest week one album sale so far in 2010. Two singles from it are now in the top 10, as "Not Afraid" again moved back up 6-5 and "Love The Way You Lie," featuring Rihanna, debuted at No. 7.

Last week's No. 1 debutant, Oasis' "Time Flies 1994-2009" compilation (Big Brother), slipped into second place on the chart last night (June 27), as Black Eyed Peas' perennial "The E.N.D. (The Energy Never Dies)" (Interscope/Universal) leapt from No. 40 to No. 3 in its 55th chart week. London rapper Example's "Won't Go Quietly" (Data) debuted at No. 4 as Miley Cyrus opened at No. 8 with "Can't Be Tamed" (Hollywood/Universal).

There were also top 20 new entries for Ozzy Osbourne's "Scream" (Epic/Sony Music Entertainment) at No. 12 and "The Boxer" (Wichita), the solo debut album by Kele of Bloc Party, at No. 20.

"California Gurls" becomes a simultaneous transatlantic chart-topper for Perry, repeating her current Hot 100 success and becoming her second U.K. No. 1 after "I Kissed A Girl" in August 2008. It replaced the soccer novelty "Shout" (Syco Music/Sony Music Entertainment) by Shout For England featuring Dizzee Rascal and James Corden, which fell to No. 3 even before the England team's disastrous 4-1 defeat by Germay at the FIFA World Cup 2010 in South Africa yesterday (June 27). K'naan's "Wavin' Flag" (A&M/Universal), Coca-Cola's official anthem of the tournament, held at No. 2.

Lady Gaga's "Alejandro" (Interscope/Universal) climbed again 10-8 as the Scissor Sisters' "Fire With Fire" (Polydor/Universal) entered at No. 11. "Airplanes" (Rebel Rock/Atlantic/Warner Music) by B.O.B. featuring Hayley Williams climbed 25-12 and "Commander" (Universal Island) by Kelly Rowland featuring David Guetta 17-13.

Katie Melua's "The House" (Dramatico) moved back 2-1 to regain the top spot on European Albums in its fourth week, while the K'naan track is in a second week at No. 1 on European Hot 100 Singles.
