"Recovery" (Interscope/Universal) started its third separate U.K. reign to become Eminem's longest-running No. 1 on the British album chart, while Flo Rida's "Club Can't Handle Me" (Atlantic/Warner Music), featuring David Guetta, moved 2-1 on the singles chart.

Eminem's album was No. 1 for its first two weeks on the Official Charts Company survey, fell a spot before spending three further weeks at the summit and then dropped again to No. 2, before climbing again on the new chart last night (Aug. 15). Its aggregate total of six weeks on top beats the rapper's previous best total of five, achieved consecutively by both "The Eminem Show" in 2002 and "Curtain Call - The Hits" in 2005. The latest single from the current set, "Love The Way You Lie" featuring Rihanna, also had a good week, climbing back to its peak of three weeks ago, 4-2.

There were no new entries in the top 40 of the album chart, on which Arcade Fire's "The Suburbs" (Mercury/Universal) fell to No. 2 after debuting in pole position last week. Plan B's "The Defamation of Strickland Banks" (679/Atlantic/Warner Music) and Eliza Doolittle's self-titled Parlophone/EMI debut stayed at Nos. 3 and 4 respectively.

"XX" (Young Turks/XL) by London indie band the XX made its first top 10 appearance, climbing 13-10 almost exactly one year after the debut set was released. The album is one of the favorites to win the Barclaycard Mercury Prize next month.

The two significant climbers in the teens of the chart were 30 Seconds To Mars' "This Is War" (Virgin/EMI), from No. 27 to a new peak of No. 15, and Ellie Goulding's "Lights" (Polydor/Universal), 30-18. Goulding also scored a new top 40 hit single from the album as "The Writer" climbed 45-19. In the week of their first U.K. visit for live shows, Lady Antebellum's "Need You Now" (Capitol/EMI) raced back 74-22, as the title track single re-entered at No. 52.

"Club Can't Handle Me" is Flo Rida's second U.K. No. 1 single after last year's "Right Round," and the fourth on which Paris-born DJ-artist Guetta has featured. Last week's chart-topper, Ne-Yo's "Beautiful Monster" (Def Jam/Universal), fell to No. 5.

There were two top ten newcomers, girl pop band the Saturdays' "Missing You" (Fascination/Universal) at No. 3 and rapper Tinchy Stryder's "In My System" (4th & Broadway/Universal) at No. 10. The only other arrival in the top 40 was "Brainwashed" (Universal Island) by London rapper of Irish extraction, Devlin. But another Island release, Stromae's massive European hit "Alors On Danse," which had ten aggregate weeks at No. 1 on Billboard's pan-European Hot 100 Singles chart, could only debut at No. 41 in the U.K.

On the current composite charts, based on the previous week's sales, the Arcade Fire set debuted at No. 1 on European Albums, while "Waka Waka (This Time For Africa)" (Epic/Sony Music Entertainment) by Shakira featuring Freshlyground is in a third week atop European Hot 100 Singles.
