Elektra All-Stars Prepare To 'Transport'

Songs from Tweet, Nate Dogg, Knoc-Turn'Al, and Missy "Misdemeanor" Elliott will be featured on Elektra's soundtrack to the upcoming film "The Transporter." The first single from the set, due Sept. 17, will be Knoc-Turn'Al's "Muzik," a cut also featured on his six-track mini-album, released this week.

"The Transporter," directed by Luc Besson ("La Femme Nikita," "The Professional"), will open Sept. 13 in U.S. theaters. Starring Jason Statham ("Snatch") and Hong Kong star Shu Qi ("Gorgeous"), the film follow the story of a mercenary hired to deliver mysterious packages. Tweet's "Boogie 2nite," Nate Dogg's "I Got Love," Benzino's "Rock the Party," and Elliott's "Scream aka Itchin'" will anchor the soundtrack. Also included is Keith Sweat's "One on One," the first single from his album "Rebirth," due Tuesday (Aug. 13).

Knoc-Turn'Al's "Muzik" follows on the heels of his first single, "Knoc" featuring Dr. Dre and Elliott. The cut peaked at No. 13 on Billboard's Hot Rap Tracks tally. As previously reported, "Muzik" features a sample of "Old Siam, Sir," a little-known 1979 tune from Paul McCartney & Wings.

"It must have been a favor from God," the MC told Billboard when asked about acquiring the hard-to-get sample from McCartney. "He must have liked the song. They told him it was a rap song that the sample needed to be cleared for, and he wasn't particularly fond of a rapper trying to use his music. But he was unbiased enough to listen to it, and it turns out he liked the song. I just appreciate the fact that Paul McCartney would take the time out to listen to something that he thought he wouldn't like."

Knoc-Turn'Al hopes to have a full-length completed by year's end. "I'm trying to be here for a while," he said. "I'm trying to be an icon. I'm not trying to just get this quick money and leave." His mini-album debuted at No. 26 on Billboard's Top R&B/Hip-Hop Albums tally this week.
