After a five-year absence, Elastica resurfaced last year with a retooled lineup and new album, "The Menace," which was released by the now-defunct Deceptive label internationally and by Atlantic in North America. The set generated little fanfare, selling just 31,000 units in the U.S., according to SoundScan, compared to 426,000 for the debut album. Sessions for a third album earlier this year proved less than fruitful.
The group's final releases will be a single with an as-yet-undetermined label and release date, as well as an album of sessions recorded for BBC's Radio 1. That 21-track set is due Oct. 29 through Strange Fruit in the U.K.
Frischmann does intend to carry on as a solo artist, and has already collaborated with British Meat Scene on a track, "Too Old to Die Young," for the soundtrack of an upcoming British movie "Mike Bassett: England Manager."
