El-P, Definitive Jux Mates Hit The Road

Acclaimed underground rapper/producer El-P has lined-up a fall tour showcasing the talent on his burgeoning Definitive Jux label. Mr. Lif and RJD2, as well as newcomers Sole Position and Cage & Copyright, will join El-P on a 24-date jaunt that launches Sept. 14 at Skatefest, a punk and hip-hop festival in Worcester, Mass. The four will head west before wrapping Oct. 19 in New York.

El-P released his first solo effort, "Fantastic Damage" earlier this year; the set is a finalist for the Shortlist Prize. He started Definitive Jux after the dissolution of his previous group, Company Flow, in late 2000. The brand has quickly garnered a reputation as one of hip-hop's most exciting new labels, releasing respected albums from Cannibal Ox and Aesop Rock. Definitive Jux will release Mr. Lif's first full-length, "I Phantom," on Sept. 17. An EP, "Emergency Rations," hit No. 38 on Billboard's Heatseekers chart.

DJ/Producer RJD2 released his debut effort "Dead Ringer" in July, and his single "Let the Good Times Roll" has been steadily gaining momentum, piercing Billboard's Hot 100 Singles Sales tally at No. 63 earlier this month.

El-P's "Fantastic Damage" peaked at No. 9 on Billboard's Heatseekers chat in June. As previously reported, the artist will take a break from the Definitive Jux tour to appear Oct. 5 at the This Ain't No Picnic festival in Irvine, Calif.
