Eagle Eye Cherry Looks To The 'Future'

Comments

Eagle-Eye Cherry has signed with MCA Records and is planning an October release for "Present/Future," a new version of last year's import-only "Living in the Present Future." The new album sports five songs not found on its predecessor, including first single "Feels So Right," which will be released to U.S. radio outlets later this summer. The set was produced by Rick Rubin (Red Hot Chili Peppers, Beastie Boys), John Kurzweg (Jewel, Creed), and Adam Kviman (Cherry's hit "Save Tonight").

"Present/Future" will feature a duet between Eagle-Eye and his sister Neneh on the track "Long Way Around." "Everybody wanted to know when I was going to record with her," Eagle-Eye told Billboard last March. "She's the greatest, and it's something I always wanted to do. Now people can stop asking."

Cherry's 1998 album "Desireless" (Work/Epic) sold 4 million units worldwide, according to MCA, and peaked at No. 45 on The Billboard 200. "Save Tonight" hit nine separate Billboard charts, peaking at No. 5 on The Billboard Hot 100. "Living in the Present Future" (Polydor) debuted at No. 12 on the U.K. album chart last May.

The artist has a full slate of European festival appearances on tap for the summer, and will perform tonight (July 18) at the Open Air Festival in Fouvieres, France.
