The triple bill of Dr. John, Robert Cray, and John Hiatt on June 23 will be a focal point of the weekend festival. The event will also feature a nod to classic jazz, starting with "A Tribute to Ella Fitzgerald" and will conclude with "Directions in Music," a tribute to the works of Miles Davis and John Coltrane featuring Hancock, saxophonist Michael Brecker, and trumpeter Roy Hargrove.
As was the case last year, JAS is also sponsoring a week-long residency program July 22-29 with nightly concerts featuring bassist/artistic director Christian McBride, guitarist Russell Malone, pianist Benny Green, trumpeter Wallace Roney, and saxophonist/program director Loren Schoenberg. A separate Labor Day festival specializing in roots music will feature performances by Willie Nelson, Nickel Creek, Gov't Mule, and Phil Lesh & Friends.
