Double Trouble's Tone-Cool Debut Due In February

Former Stevie Ray Vaughan rhythm section Double Trouble (drummer Chris Layton and bassist Tommy Shannon) has signed with Tone-Cool Records and will release its debut album, "Been A Long Time," on Feb. 6. The album features a host of high-profile guest appearances, including Kenny Wayne Shepherd, Charlie Sexton, and Susan Tedeschi on first single "Rock And Roll."

Also featured on "Been A Long Time" are Eric Johnson, Willie Nelson, Dr. John, Jimmie Vaughan, and Doyle Bramhall II. Sexton served as the album's co-producer.

Double Trouble are featured prominently on the recent four-disc Stevie Ray Vaughan box set "SRV" (Epic/Legacy), which comprises Vaughan's entire recording career. "When we first got together we were a simple, typical blues band with no frills or anything," Shannon told Billboard's Jim Bessman last month. "But then we started growing and stepping out a little bit and going into new directions without losing our roots -- and the box covers the whole story."
