After "My Heart," legendary singer/actress Doris Day's first studio album in 17 years, was released in the U.K. in September, the album will finally receive a stateside release on Dec. 2.

The 13-song album is dedicated to Day's son, Terry Melcher, who died of melanoma in 2004. Melcher, who produced songs for the Byrds and the Beach Boys, produced a majority of the album, including "The Way I Dreamed It," "Happy Endings" and the title track.

"This music brings back so many memories, my dear friends who appeared on screen with me, all the wonderful animals, and of course, my darling son Terry whom I miss so much," says Day in a press release.

Since appearing in classics films like "Calamity Jane," "Love Me or Leave Me" and "Teacher's Pet," Day has been an outspoken advocate for animal rights. All proceeds from "My Heart" will go to the Doris Day Animal Foundation, located in Carmel Valley, Calif.
