Doobie Brothers Takin' It To The Net

The Doobie Brothers will make 15 newly recorded tracks available for free download Friday (Sept. 1) at WindowsMedia.com, as the kickoff of a multistage campaign for their new album "Sibling Rivalry," due Oct. 3 from Pyramid.

The second phase begins when the downloads time-out Sept. 15 and consumers are directed to participating e-tailers and imix.com, which will make the 15 tracks plus four new ones available for sale as custom CDs or individual downloads.

Later this year, a Doobies concert album, "Live Millennium," will be made available to fans in the same manner. It will be the first live recording to feature the current touring line-up, comprised of band members Michael Hossack (drums), Tom Johnston (guitar), Keith Knudsen (drums), John McFee (guitar), and Pat Simmons (guitar/vocals), as well touring members Guy Allison (keyboards), Marc Russo (saxophone), and Skylark (bass).

AMFM, an imix shareholder, will support the promotion via its network of radio stations.
