The Prodigy will kick off Detroit's Movement 2009 festival.

Glitch Mob, Anthony Rother, Benga and Marc "MK" Kinchen are among the more than two dozen more performers named for Movement 2009, the annual electronic music festival that takes place each Memorial Day weekend in Detroit. The four acts join a roster of 60 DJs and live acts that already includes dance music heavy hitters such as the Prodigy, Afrika Bambaataa, Bassnectar, Derrick May, Carl Cox, Francois K, Z-Trip, Rick Wade and previous festival artistic directors Carl Craig and Kevin Saunderson.

The festival runs May 23-25 in Detroit's Hart Plaza, while The Prodigy will perform at an official opening party on May 22 at the Fillmore Detroit.

The Glitch Mob, Rother and Kinchen, who will join forces with Scotty Deep, are each planning live sets for the event. More performers are expected to be announced soon.

Movement -- named Festival of the Year in 2008 by URB magazine, is currently selling discounted weekend passes for $40 at www.paxahau.com. Tickets for the Prodigy appearance start at $20 at www.livenation.com.

The 2008 edition of Movement drew more than 75,000 people, according to the festival's producers -- an increase of about 25 from the previous year. Festival spokesman James Canning says the Movement team is hoping that "a strong group of sponsors" as well as a dedicated fan base will keep the festival healthy despite an international downturn that's hit Detroit hardest of all.

"Electronic fans are very loyal to the music," Canning says. "Our lineup is very strong, so we're hoping we see them again this year."

The full list of current Movement 2009 performers includes: Adultnapper, Ellen Allien, Anthony Atalla, Bad Boy Bill, Afrika Bambaataa (live), Bassnectar, Nikola Baytala, Benny Benassi, Benga, Adam Beyer, Steve Bug, Busy P, Buzz Goree, Marco Carola, Mike Clark, Carl Cox, Carl Craig, Drumcell, Al Ester, Exchange Bureau (live) Nic Fanciulli, Dennis Ferrer, Flying Lotus (live), Mieka du Franx, Guy Gerber, Chuck Gibson a.k.a.
