DeGrate Insists His Own Vocals Grace Debut

Rumors that former Jodeci member Dalvin DeGrate did not perform his vocals on some of the tracks on his upcoming Maverick solo debut "Met.A.Mor.Phic," due out April 18, are being put to rest by the artist and a collaborator who contributed to the album.

Several published reports alleged that DeGrate's friend and fellow singer Stevie J actually performed all the vocals on the album's first single, "Why Can't We," among other songs, charges both artists deny.

"Come on, this is ridiculous," Stevie J said in a statement. "Dalvin is singing his own vocals, I just came in and percolated on a verse, just like Dalvin did on my joint."

"I have no idea how someone could get this one so wrong," DeGrate added. "Stevie played on a bunch of the album's tracks, he produced or co-produced four tracks, and he sang back-up on 'Why Can't We,' 'More Than Friends,' and 'Scandalous,' but that was it. And I made
sure he was credited and paid!"

Although DeGrate tour dates have yet to be confirmed, the artist tapes a performance April 11 for future broadcast on cable channel BET and will also perform April 29 at the Opryland Hotel in Nashville as part of the Impact Awards ceremony.
