Dance Acts Flock To L.A. New Year's Bashes

Los Angeles dance revelers will once again have two massive events to pick from this New Year's Eve. Paul Oakenfold, the Crystal Method, Sandra Collins and Danny Howells will lead an event at the Bonaventure Hotel in downtown L.A., and just a few miles away at the L.A. Sports Arena, Judge Jules, Fergie, Goldie and Lemon D will spin into 2004.

Among others confirmed to appear at the Bonaventure are Jason Bentley, Lee Burrige, Luke Fair, DJ Icon, Mark Tabberner, Sol, Justin Gourley, John Do Pete, Lorimer, Architects of Sound and August Paro. Promoted by Giant, this is the second year the event, which began on Hollywood Boulevard in 2000, will be held in the downtown area. A portion of its proceeds will benefit the Quincy Jones Listen Up foundation.

The Bonaventure event will accommodate 10,000 ticket buyers and will be spread among three grand ballrooms, a rooftop garden, a pool deck and a revolving lounge at the top of the hotel. Festivities get under way at 2 p.m. on Dec. 31 and will last until 2 a.m. on Jan. 2. New Year's Day will be celebrated with an afternoon pool party, and the hotel has blocked off a number of rooms for the two days. Tickets for the 21-and-over event are on sale now at Ticketmaster, and range from $75-$150.

Just down the street, an 18-and-over event will once-again be staged at the L.A Sports Arena. Among others slated to appear are John "00" Fleming, Richard "Humpty" Vission, DJ Reza, Dillinia, DJ Fresh, Hive, DJ Tao, Barry Weaver, Mars, Lenny V. and G-Spot. The happening, which will include a midnight fireworks display, will be spread over four areas inside the former home for the Los Angeles Clippers.

Tickets are on sale via Ticketmaster, ranging from $35-$75. Festivities get under way at 7 p.m. on New Year's Eve and last until 4 a.m. on New Year's Day. This is the third year for the New Year's Eve celebration at the Sports Arena, which is being promoted by Go Ventures and Insomniac Events.
