The Who's Roger Daltrey is the latest artist to join the Steve Marriott tribute concert, set for April 20 at London's Astoria Theatre. The show, which will commemorate the 10th anniversary of the Humble Pie and Small Faces frontman's death, will feature a reunion of Humble Pie's surviving original members -- guitarist Peter Frampton, drummer Jerry Shirley, and bassist Greg Ridley.
Also on hand will be later Pie members guitarist Dave "Clem" Clemson, who joined following Frampton's exit, and '80s era vocalist Bob Tench, as well as Small Faces drummer Kenny Jones (who replaced the late Keith Moon in the Who) and guitarist/keyboardist Ian McIagan. Other guests will include former Jam/Style Council frontman Paul Weller, current Who touring drummer Zak Starkey (the son of Ringo Starr), former Sex Pistols guitarist Glen Matlock, former Ultravox frontman Midge Ure, Status Quo keyboardist Andy Bown, Roger Chapman, and Chris Farlowe.
In other Daltrey news, the singer will add to his acting resume a guest spot on the new TNT series "Witchblade." Daltrey will play a Catholic priest in a dispute between the Vatican and Nazis in an episode of the show. An airdate for the episode has not yet been set.
Premiering June 12, "Witchblade" stars Yancy Butler ("Brooklyn South," "Drop Zone") and David Chokachi ("Psycho Beach Party," "Baywatch"), reprising their roles from last year's pilot telefilm of the same name. The series centers on a New York detective "whose search for justice brings her into contact with an ancient weapon so powerful it can battle Earth's darkest evil forces," according to the network.
Daltrey, who has appeared in many film and television roles -- including the title roles of the Who's 1975 epic musical "Tommy," and 1980's "McVicar," as well as the 1999 TV miniseries "Leprechaun" -- will also be seen on the big screen in 2001. He stars opposite Nastassja Kinski and Nicollette Sheridan in the Nico Mastorakis-directed thriller ".com For Murder," which will features a cameo by fellow rocker Huey Lewis.
Daltrey, along with Malcolm McDowell, is also listed in the cast of "The Chemical Wedding," which will be directed by Terry Jones of Monty Python fame, and produced by his company Messiah Productions. Continuing the rock'n'roll film connection, the script was written by Iron Maiden singer Bruce Dickinson, and shares a name with his 1998 CMC solo album.

Made with the approval of bandleader/guitarist Pete Townshend, "Substitute -- The Songs of the Who," will feature Pearl Jam, David Bowie, Paul Weller, Sheryl Crow, Phish, and the Who itself. The set will be released in the U.K. by Edel on May 28 and on June 12 in North America on the company's EAR label..
