Counting Crows Fly Onto Santana Tour

Counting Crows have signed on to open seven shows for Santana in Europe, beginning May 16 in Copenhagen. Afterward, the group will appear May 17 at Germany's annual Rock Am Ring festival in Nurburgring and the following day at the Rock Im Park festival in Nuremberg. The Crows have also expanded their U.S. support dates with the Who to five, beginning June 29 in Irvine, Calif.

Other U.S. dates include performances at the annual New Orleans Jazz & Heritage Festival (April 26) and Atlanta's Music Midtown Festival (May 4). The Crows are expected to tour North America later this year.

As exclusively revealed here last month, the group is planning to release its fourth studio album, tentatively titled "Hard Candy," this summer via Geffen. The set was produced by Steve Lillywhite (U2, Peter Gabriel, Dave Matthews Band) and is the follow-up to 1999's "This Desert Life," which has sold 1.1 million copies to date, according to SoundScan.
