As promised, Coldplay released a new single, "Every Teardrop Is a Waterfall," on its website Friday morning (June 3). The track, which may or may not appear on the band's Brian Eno-produced fifth album, is now available on digital retailers except in the U.K., where it will be released at 12:01 am local time on Sunday morning.

"Every Teardrop Is a Waterfall" finds Coldplay hearkening "Strawberry Swing," a highlight from its 2008 album "Viva la Vida," as Will Champion's slick percussion and Johnny Buckland's metallic guitar riffs support frontman Chris Martin's far-reaching wails. As indicated by its lyrics, which were posted in full when the group announced the new single on Tuesday, "Every Teardrop Is a Waterfall" has a soaring, celebratory tone, as Martin sings, "I turn the music up/I'm on a roll this time/And heaven is in sight."
