The documentary "Coachella," which chronicles the first six years of the beloved Coachella Valley Music & Arts Festival, will descend on 115 theaters in 55 U.S. markets on Jan. 24 via Big Screen Concerts. The film, which was directed by Drew Thomas and produced by event promoter Goldenvoice, will also be premiered Jan. 19 in Los Angeles and Jan. 23 in New York.

"Coachella" rounds up some of the most iconic performances from throughout the fest's history, stretching back to Morrissey at the inaugural 1999 show up through a 2005 clip of the Arcade Fire. In between is footage of such acts as Bjork, Radiohead, the Pixies, the White Stripes, the Chemical Brothers, Oasis, the Flaming Lips, Iggy & the Stooges, the Red Hot Chili Peppers, Kool Keith and Beck, among many others.

Meanwhile, anticipation continues to build for the 2006 edition of Coachella, which will be held April 29-30 at Empire Polo Field in Indio, Calif. Pre-sale tickets for the festival will be available beginning Jan. 25; the general public on-sale starts Feb. 4 at noon PST via Ticketmaster.

At present, the only act confirmed to appear is Depeche Mode, who will headline the first night. A lineup announcement is expected in the next few weeks.
