Terri Clark, Paul Brandt, Carolyn Dawn Johnson, and Emerson Drive lead the nominations for this year's Canadian Country Music Awards, with five each. The awards will be presented Sept. 9 at Calgary's Pengrowth Saddledome and televised live in Canada on CBC-TV and in the U.S. on CMT.

Clark's "Empty" is up for single of the year, CMT video of the year, and the Society of Composers, Authors, and Music Publishers of Canada (SOCAN) song of the year; she is also nominated for female artist and the Fans' Choice award. Brandt's nods include male artist and Fans' Choice; his "Small Towns and Big Dreams" is up for album of the year, and the title track is up for single of the year.

Johnson is named in the female artist and Fans' Choice categories, and she received nods for her single "I Don't Want You to Go." Emerson Drive is up for group or duo of the year and earned nominations for its self-titled album and the single "I Should Be Sleeping."

Johnson was the big winner at last year's ceremony, taking home five trophies, including top female artist and top album for "Room With a View."
