Christina Aguilera

Christina Aguilera is opening up about her divorce from husband Jordan Bratman and the new man in her life, Matthew Rutler, whom she describes as "the kind of person you could spend hours with on the phone talking to and all of a sudden it's daylight."

"There is a love there, yes," Aguilera tells People in a new interview. "I'm dating and it's something I haven't had in a really long time."

Aguilera met Rutler while filming her new movie "Burlesque," on which he worked as a set assistant. The pair have spent the last week together partying on both coasts and visiting Rutler's family home in Rhode Island, where Aguilera met his mother, Kathleen.

Aguilera officially filed for divorce from her husband Jordan Bratman in October, shortly after announcing that they'd separated one month earlier. The singer tells People that the marriage was "so unhealthy and unhappy...I knew I had to end it. I really didn't want to hurt Jordan, and I felt torn about splitting our family up."

"When you're unhappy in your marriage, your children are the ones who suffer," Aguilera says. "That's the last thing I wanted for my son."
