Chris Brown

Chris Brown is in the studio working on an album for a late-summer release, the 20 year old singer said today (May 27). Brown made the announcement via a video blog post, his first public comments since his domestic violence dispute, allegedly with former girlfriend Rihanna, hit the news back in February. The album is tentatively titled "Graffiti," and will be preceded by a single earlier this summer.

"I just want to say 'what up' because I ain't been out there in a minute," Brown says into the camera while accompanied by fellow artist Bow Wow. "We ain't going nowhere. Everybody that's haters, they just been haters. All my real fans - I love y'all.

"I ain't a monster," he continues about the felony assault and criminal threat case, which he was charged for in March by Los Angeles County prosecutors after allegedly punching, choking and biting 21-year-old Rihanna the night of the 2009 Grammy Awards.

Last month, he pleaded not guilty to threatening and assaulting the "Umbrella" singer. If convicted, Brown could be sentenced to probation or up to nearly five years in prison.
