Chingy Hitting The Road With Snoop, Juvenile

Comments

Rapper Chingy is cooking up a 2005 tour which will feature some dates with Snoop Dogg, Juvenile and DJ Quik. The artist tells Billboard.com the outing will begin in January but at deadline only seven dates have been confirmed, kicking off Feb. 2 at the House of Blues in Myrtle Beach, S.C.

"The tour is based around me, but it will be broken up," Chingy says. "On the West Coast, I think DJ Quik will do those. East Coast, I think Juvenile will do a lot of dates with me. Snoop Dogg, I think he will be on some of the dates with Juvenile."

Snoop has 12 North American dates on tap, beginning Jan. 2 in Atlantic City, N.J., but none of them intersect with the itinerary Chingy has announced so far.

Chingy will be touring in support of his new Capitol album, "Powerballin'," which peaked last month at No. 10 on The Billboard 200 and has sold 294,000 copies in the United States, according to Nielsen SoundScan. The single "Balla Baby" peaked at No. 7 on Billboard's Hot Rap Tracks chart.

"We just put the remix to 'Balla Baby' out there, featuring Lil' Flip and my homeboy Boozie from the Git It Boyz," he says. "We're working our way up to the second single, which will be 'Don't Worry' featuring Janet Jackson." Chingy has also lent rhymes to the track "Throwback" from Lil' Wayne's next album, due next year.

The rapper says he is at work on a variety of other projects, including the formation of his own label, Slot-A-Lot Records, and a branded MasterCard. "
I'm getting some [film] scripts and looking them over," he says. "I'm actually trying to create my own sitcom show, too."

Here are Chingy's tour dates:

Feb. 2: Myrtle Beach, S.C. (House of Blues)
Feb. 5: Norfolk, Va. (NorVa)
Feb. 9: Chicago (House of Blues)
Feb. 17: San Diego (4th & B)
Feb. 18: Anaheim, Calif. (House of Blues)
Feb. 20: Las Vegas (House of Blues)
Feb. 21: Los Angeles (House of Blues)
