According to the suit, Mohler and Wood played on several tracks on the Calling's 2001 RCA debut, "Camino Palmero," which has sold 807,000 copies in the U.S., according to Nielsen SoundScan, and were part of the touring band. The musicians claim that when they asked for a full accounting of proceeds from the tour, Band, Kamin and the group's management offered them a share of less than a thousand dollars each.
"Mohler and Wood brought the lawsuit to enforce their rights," according to a statement from the pair's lawyers.
Band and Kamin have been working on the Calling's next album for some time without Mohler and Wood, although it is unknown who will replace the musicians on future tours. Footage of the sessions in progress can be viewed on the band's official Web site.
A recent post on the site reads, "We're planning to put out the record [in the] first quarter of next year and immediately start touring the world again with all new material and new players. We're sorry that we couldn't get the record out to you guys this year, but we promise it's for the best."
