R.L. Burnside, Shemekia Copeland, Anson Funderburgh & Sam Myers, B.B. King, Rod Piazza, and Bobby Rush have been nominated as blues entertainer of the year for the 2000 W.C. Handy Awards.
Titles by Jimmy Johnson, Albert King & Stevie Ray Vaughan, Louisiana Red, Duke Robillard, Joe Louis Walker, the late Luther Allison, and the triumvirate of Lonnie Brooks, Long John Hunter, and Philip Walker captured nominations for blues album of the year.
The awards, presented annually by the non-profit Blues Foundation, will be held May 25 at the Orpheum Theatre in Memphis.
