'Buffy' Soundtrack Takes Bite Of Modern Rock

Songs by such modern-rock heavyweights as Garbage and Guided By Voices are included on the soundtrack to the TV series "Buffy The Vampire Slayer." To be issued Oct. 19 by TVT Soundtrax, the companion album features tunes that have been or will be used in the new season of the WB! Network show about a high-school girl who rids the world of vampires in her spare time.

Among the songs included on the set are "Temptation Waits" by Garbage, "It Doesn't Matter" by Alison Krauss & Union Station, and "Virgin State Of Mind" from K's Choice, as well as "Strong" by Velvet Chain, "Wild Horses" by the Sundays, and "Transylvanian Concubine" by Rasputina. In addition, the disc will feature the show's theme as performed by Nerf Herder.

The set's lead track, "Teenage FBI" by Guided By Voices, went to radio last month; the single will not be commercially released.
