Browne, Helm, Others To Play Rainforest Benefit

Comments

Jackson Browne, the Band's Levon Helm, and Dr. John lead the list of musicians who will take part in the Rainforest Alliance's "Smart Sounds: Music for the Planet IV" benefit concert, set for March 6 at New York's Beacon Theatre. Also on board for the event, which will raise funds for the organization's tropical rainforest conservation efforts, are blues artists Keb' Mo', Clarence "Gatemouth" Brown, and Odetta, along with BR5-49, "Southside" Johnny Lyon, and Fabulous Thunderbirds singer Kim Wilson.

Throughout the night, musicians will use instruments made from wood grown and harvested according to standards of the nonprofit conservation organization's SmartWood program.

Tickets for the show, priced at $50 and $70, are on sale now via Ticketmaster and the Beacon box office. A limited number of $200 and $450 benefit tickets, which include admittance to an exclusive post-concert party, are available directly from the Rainforest Alliance at 212-677-1900.
