Cheryl Cole secured a second week with the U.K.'s No. 1 album, "3 Words" (Fascination/Polydor/Universal), beating Bon Jovi's "The Circle" (Mercury/Universal) which entered at No. 2.
Cole lost her singles chart crown as "Fight For This Love" fell to No. 2 last night (Nov. 8) behind JLS. The male pop outfit, runners-up last year in the star-making series on which Cole is a judge, "The X Factor," got their second No. 1 singles debut of the year, following July's "Beat Again" (Epic/Sony Music Entertainment) with "Everybody In Love." Their self-titled debut album is released in the U.K. today (Nov. 9).
Black Eyed Peas climbed again 6-3 on the singles chart with "Meet Me Halfway" (Interscope/Universal), while American pop-R&B sensation Ke$ha's "Tik Tok" (RCA/Sony Music Entertainment) made an instant U.K. impact at No. 6. The dance hit "End Credits" (Vertigo/Universal) by Chase & Status crossed over into the Official Charts Co's pop top ten at No. 9, while Lady Gaga's "Bad Romance" (Interscope/Universal) became her fourth U.K. top ten hit of the year with a 14-10 climb.
"Empire State of Mind" (Roc Nation/Warner Music) by Jay-Z featuring Alicia Keys climbed back 13-11, as Snow Patrol's "Just Say Yes" (Fiction/Polydor/Universal) entered at No. 15. Paolo Nutini climbed 28-17 with "Pencil Full of Lead" (Atlantic/Warner Music) and Calvin Harris improved 25-18 with "Flashback" (Columbia/Sony Music Entertainment). Also on Columbia, Journey's "Don't Stop Believin'" became a U.K. top 20 hit for the first time after it was performed by "X Factor" contestant Joe McElderry. Although it reached No. 9 on Billboard's Hot 100 in 1981, it peaked at No. 62 across the Atlantic that year.
Cole's second week atop the album chart came as Bon Jovi's "The Circle" arrived at No. 2. Foo Fighters' "Greatest Hits" set (RCA/Sony Music Entertainment) opened at No. 4, while the release of a new "Platinum Edition" of Beyoncé's "I Am...Sasha Fierce" (Columbia/Sony Music Entertainment) sent the album racing back 53-8. The new version features three new songs, including the single "Broken Hearted Girl" which climbed 41-27, plus a Kanye West remix of "Ego" and a DVD featuring videos of all the album's singles.
Michael Jackson's "This Is It" (Epic/Sony Music Entertainment) debuted at No. 1 on Billboard's European Albums survey, as "Sexy Chick" (Gum/Positiva/Virgin/EMI) by David Guetta featuring Akon returned to the top of European Hot 100 Singles for the seventh week in total.
