The new charts also contained a hit single for Richard Ashcroft and a major climb for the Editors' debut album.
Ward, the winner of ITV's "The X Factor" before Christmas, leads the singles list again ahead of Nizlopi's "JCB Song" (FDM), which had a week at No. 1 before Ward's debut and has now spent four weeks at No. 2. Ashcroft's "Break the Night With Colour" (Parlophone), the lead single from his third solo album, "Keys to the World," entered at No. 3, equaling the peak of his first hit, "A Song for the Lovers," in 2000. Also new on the singles chart at No. 4 was Sunblock's "I'll Be Ready" (Manifesto), a dance version of the theme from the long-running TV series "Baywatch." Scottish veterans Texas debuted at No. 6 with "Sleep" (Mercury), the third single from the album "Red Book." The track is a duet with Paul Buchanan of fellow Scottish act the Blue Nile.
Jose Gonzalez, who despite his Spanish-sounding name is a Swedish classical guitarist, opened at No. 9 with "Heartbeats" (Peace Frog). The low-key guitar piece attracted attention when it was featured in a TV commercial campaign for the Bravia television.
Blunt's album, which is eight-times platinum in the U.K. for shipments of 2.4 million copies, last topped the chart in September for a week, but before that had eight straight weeks at No. 1. Birmingham rockers Editors, who last week scored their first big hit single with "Munich" (Kitchenware), make another big climb with the album "The Back Room," which has now risen 39-18-3.
