Blues Explosion Powers Up For Spring Tour

Comments

Jon Spencer Blues Explosion will kick off a 21-show North American tour April 25 in Washington, D.C. The trek comes in support of the group's upcoming album "Plastic Fang," due April 9 via Matador. It's the group's first set since 1998's "Acme," which earned the group it's highest chart placement on The Billboard 200 at No. 121.

The tour includes an April 29 date in New Orleans as part of the Superfly During Jazzfest series, joining such acts as Medeski Martin & Wood, Gov't Mule, Ozomatli, Vida Blue, and the Radiators.

As previously reported, "Plastic Fang" was produced by Steve Jordan (who has drummed on albums by everyone from Steely Dan to Keith Richards and B.B. King). Among the guest artists are singer/songwriter Elliott Smith, Parliament/Funkadelic principal Bernie Worrell, and New Orleans keyboardist Dr. John.

"Mean Heart," one of the new album's 12 tracks, will be available for free download on Matador's Web site later this month. In addition, six new songs will appear on B-sides in Europe and Japan; four of these will also appear on the U.S. vinyl release.
