Brooklyn, N.Y.-based hardcore band Biohazard, recently signed to Sanctuary Records, will on Sept. 11 release "Uncivilization," its sixth full-length album. The set features guest appearances from members of Pantera, Cypress Hill, Slipknot, Type O Negative, and Sepultura.
The group plans a full-scale tour to support "Uncivilization," which was produced by the band with help from Jive Jones. Biohazard's trip will begin in August in the Northeast U.S. and Canada, with a European leg and a more extensive tour of the States to follow.
Guitarist/vocalist Billy Graziadei said of the album's many guest musicians, "In the hip-hop world, it is fairly commonplace to have friends appear on your records. We've been respected for our union of otherwise conflicting styles of hip hop, hardcore, and heavy metal, so we felt it only natural to utilize the contributing talents of friends."
Biohazard surfaced in the early '90s, and was one of the first to combine elements of hip-hop and hard metal/thrash into its style, one later adopted by such chart-toppers as Limp Bizkit and Deftones. The group's big breakthrough came when rap group Onyx recorded a version of its hit "Slam" with Biohazard as backing musicians. The two collaborated again in 1993 on the title track to the "Judgement Night" soundtrack.
Biohazard's most recent effort, 1999's "New World Disorder" debuted at No. 187 on The Billboard 200.
