Billboard has updated and upgraded its Charts App with a new chart, alerts, and reduced pricing. The new version of the app is available now from the iTunes store.

The original app, released in February, included 10 free charts with 10 positions on each; the paid model offered every position on a total of 15 charts. Billboard now offers the top 10 positions on those 15 charts, along with the new Social 50 chart for free - and for just $1.99 per year, you can access all 16 charts in their entirety along with all available chart history.  To summarize, the app now offers:

-- REDUCED PRICING: For just $1.99 a year, you now get access to all 16 charts in their entirety, and all available chart history

-- MORE CHART POSITIONS: All users now have access to the top 10 positions on 16 charts for free
 
--NEW CHART: The Chart app now includes Billboard's Social 50, a ranking of the most active artists on the world's leading social networking sites.
 
--CHART ALERTS: No more refreshing the app on Thursday mornings, you can now receive alerts when the charts have been updated.

The charts available on the app include: Hot 100, Billboard 200, Digital Songs, Radio Songs, Dance/Club Play Songs, Latin Albums, Christian Songs, Tastemaker Albums, R&B/Hip-Hop Albums, Ringtones, R&B/Hip-Hop Songs, Pop Songs, Country Songs, Rock Songs, Rap Songs and Social 50.
