Billboard Bits: Timberlake, Frames, Raitt/Hinojosa

Comments

Justin TimberlakeA Justin Timberlake club show slated for Sunday night (Dec. 20) at Dublin's intimate Vicar St. sold out in record time yesterday (Dec. 15). According to Aiken Promotions, the show at the 1,000-capacity venue sold out within just 40 seconds of the announcement at 11 a.m.

It's considered the quickest sell-out in Irish entertainment history, beating the previous record set by the Rolling Stones earlier this year. Tickets, priced at 55 euros ($67 U.S.), were available exclusively through Ticketmaster's phone lines and Web site.

Prior to the late night Vicar St. show, Timberlake will perform a much larger concert at Dublin's the Point earlier that evening and will return to the arena the following night. The Dublin shows will signal a break in a European tour that will pick up after the New Year with a slate of U.K. dates.

The Frames"Set List," a live album recorded across four November 2002 shows at Dublin's Vicar St., will be the first Anti- Records release for Irish rock band the Frames. Long renowned for its live show, but underexposed outside of its homeland, the band hopes to show its might to America with the 13-track set, released over the summer in Ireland via Plateau Records.

Like all of the band's previous releases, "Set List" can be streamed via the band's
official Web site.

Fronted by Glen Hansard (known to many for his role in "The Commitments"), the Frames are working on a new studio album due sometime in 2004. The band will close out 2003 with a pair of Dublin shows Dec. 30-31 at the Olympia Theatre.

Bonnie RaittBonnie Raitt and Tish Hinojosa have joined the lineup for the Jan. 3 Austin, Texas, fundraiser for Democratic Presidential candidate Dennis Kucinich.
As previously reported, the show will be headlined by Willie Nelson and also feature Tim Reynolds and Michelle Shocked.

Tickets for the show at the Austin Music Hall are $50 and available via Star Tickets. An artist reception following the show will be held at nearby La Zona Rosa. Tickets for that event are $75 and available by calling 512-472-5755.
