The lineup has begun taking shape for the 2008 Tibet House benefit concert, to be held Feb. 13 at New York's Carnegie Hall. Under the direction of artistic director Philip Glass, who will also perform, such acts as Sufjan Stevens, Ray Davies, Band Of Horses, Television's Tom Verlaine, Nawang Khechog and Marisa Monte will take the stage.
Additional artists will be announced, including what is rumored to be a major classic rock figure. Tickets can be purchased via the Carnegie Hall box office; packages with a post-concert dinner party are available directly from Tibet House at 212-807-0563.
Metal festival Gigantour has set tour dates for its upcoming 2008 trek through North America. Megadeth will headline; the shows will introduce guitarist Chris Broderick, who recently replaced Glen Dover.
In Flames, Children Of Bodom, Job For A Cowboy and High On Fire are also scheduled to perform on the 29-date trek, which begins April 12 in Denver and runs through May 22 in Phoenix.
Gigantour was launched by Megadeth frontman Dave Mustaine in 2005. Full tour dates can be found at the Gigantour Web site; a ticket presale is now underway.
Gospel label newcomer Habakkuk Music, which is distributed through Universal Music Christian Group/Fontana, has signed 2008 Stellar Award winner Isaiah D. Thomas. His first project for the label will be the March 25 release "The Greatest." On Jan. 12, Thomas and his group the Elements of Praise won their second Stellar Award for contemporary choir of the year and were also nominated for choir of the year for their independently released live CD.
In other signing news, crossover jazz label Heads Up International has added a cappella group Take 6 to its roster. The group's yet-untitled label debut is slated for August 2008. Encompassing a mix of jazz standards and original songs, the upcoming album will feature singer Aaron Neville, among other guests.
Take 6, co-founded by Brian McKnight's brother Claude, was established in the early '80s. Signed to Warner Bros.' Reprise label, the group released its first studio album in 1988.
