Billboard Bits: THISDAY Festival, AMAs, Our Lady Peace

A host of American hip-hop stars will visit Lagos, Nigeria, for the inaugural THISDAY Music Festival, to be held Oct. 7-8. Beyonce, Jay-Z, Ciara and En Vogue will play on the first night, while Snoop Dogg, Mary J. Blige, Missy Elliott and Busta Rhymes are confirmed for the second.

Nigerian acts King Sunny Ade, Tu Face, DBanj, Dare Art Alade, Weird MC, Asha and Seun Anikulapo-Kuti are also on the bill for the show, which will be broadcast live throughout Nigeria. The country is in the midst of celebrating its 46th year of independence from Britain.

Jimmy Kimmel has been tapped to host the American Music Awards for a third time this year.
As previously reported, the 34th annual event will be held Nov. 21 at Los Angeles' Shrine Auditorium and broadcast live on ABC. Kimmel, host of his own late-night talk show on the network, also hosted in 2003 and 2004.

Beyonce, Josh Groban, Mary J. Blige and Carrie Underwood are the first acts confirmed to perform. Mariah Carey, the Red Hot Chili Peppers, the Black Eyed Peas and Nickelback lead the pack with three nominations each.

Canadian rock band Our Lady Peace's first 10 years will be anthologized on "A Decade," due Nov. 21 via Columbia. The 17-track set includes two previously unreleased tracks, "Kiss on the Mouth" and "Better Than Here," originally recorded during sessions for the band's 2005 album "Healthy in Paranoid Times."

In the United States, the group is best known for the track "Somewhere Out There," which found success on both Billboard's Modern Rock and Top 40 Mainstream charts.
