Billboard Bits: The Sheila Divine, Belle & Sebastian

Roadrunner rock act the Sheila Divine has been added as the opening act for eight dates on Morrissey's current U.S. tour. The band joins the tour Thursday in Pittsburgh, and concludes its stint with a Feb. 29 show at New York's Beacon Theater.

The Sheila Divine is up for a record six Boston Music Awards, including outstanding indie label rock band, indie label album of the year, and indie label single of the year. The awards ceremony will be held April 13 at Boston's Orpheum Theatre.

Belle & Sebastian bassist Stuart David has left the critically acclaimed U.K. folk/pop act to devote more time to his side project, Looper. However, David will appear on Belle & Sebastian's as-yet-untitled fourth studio album, set for a fall release on Matador in the U.S. and Jeepster in the U.K.

Looper, which is in talks to tour the U.S. with the Flaming Lips this spring, will see a May 9 release for "The Geometrid," its second Sub Pop album.
