Billboard Bits: The Sadies, Diana Ross, Maximo Park

The Sadies will on Aug. 8 release a double-disc live album recorded earlier this year at Toronto's Lee's Palace. "The Sadies: Volume 1" (Yep Roc) will feature 41 tracks engineered by Steve Albini and featuring guest appearances from Neko Case, Kelly Hohan, Jon Langford, Gary Louris, Heavy Trash, Blue Rodeo and the band's Garth Hudson, who appears with case on a cover of the Band's "Evangeline."

The group has a handful of summer shows on its schedule, concentrated around Canada. Roadwork begins May 27 in Sunderland, Ontario, and will wrap Aug. 20 at the Dog Day Afternoon festival in Guelph, Ontario.

Starbucks has scored a five-week exclusive on Diana Ross' "Blue," an album of standards recorded in 1971 and 1972 that was never released.
As previously reported, the Motown/UME set will be available June 20 via traditional retail outlets.

"Blue" was intended as a companion to the hit 1972 soundtrack to "Lady Sings the Blues," in which Ross portrayed jazz legend Billie Holiday. However, Ross instead followed up the project with the pop album "Touch Me in the Morning," which reached No. 1 on the Billboard album chart. In its wake, "Blue" was shelved; the master tapes were only recently discovered in Motown's vault, according to the label.

Up-and-coming U.K. rock act Maximo Park will release its first DVD June 5 internationally via Warp. "Found on Film" chronicles shows in London and Newcastle on this year's ShockWaves NME Awards tour and also rounds up a behind-the-scenes documentary, music videos, an AOL session and an audio disc of sessions recorded for BBC Radio.

In addition to performance of singles like "Apply Some Pressure" and "Graffiti," the audio disc includes the previously unreleased track "Surrender" and a cover of Natlie Imbruglia's "Shiver."

While it begins assembling material for its sophomore album, Maximo Park will be on the road at a host of European summer festivals, including the U.K.'s Isle of Wight, Germany's Hurricane and Southside and Spain's Summercase.
