Says festival artistic director Carl Craig, who is a veteran Detroit DJ and founder of Planet E Records, "When I was asked to develop the artist line-up for the Detroit Electronic Music Festival, my first goal was to show the diversity in electronic music. I feel that this year's lineup sets the standard for future electronic music events by presenting a balance of artists including jazz, techno, hip-hop, and house music. This isn't your everyday music, but a new music for a new time."
Other acts on the bill throughout the weekend include Spacetime Continuum, Kevin Saunderson, and Richie Hawtin.

The fire that damaged R&B legend James Brown's office in Augusta, Ga., last Friday was no accident, according to reports published today. Investigators suspected arson after finding a fire accelerant in several locations in the building.
Sources have confirmed that the fire destroyed much of the memorabilia collected by the 67-year-old Brown during his career, including the robe he wore in the film "The Blues Brothers" and master tapes of studio work and live performances. Brown is offering a $20,000 reward for information regarding the fire.
